E-Club of Central Texas Leads International Service Project

Juan and Juanita Lira, members of the E-Club of Central Texas, submitted a service project proposal to the club to help Miguel F. Martinez Elementary School in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas (Mexico) purchase sufficient paint to restore the school’s classrooms. The club’s award of $250.00 was matched by a contribution from the club’s foundation, RESCUSA.
When Juan and Juanita shared this initiative with Rene Angers, Past President of Club Rotario Nuevo Santander from Nuevo Laredo, he successfully spearheaded an effort to secure a $500.00 match from his club to help support this international project.

Dr. Norma Rivera, Miguel F. Martinez Elementary School Principal, and her staff subsequently used the $1,000.00 to purchase the paint to restore all of the school’s classrooms. Students’ parents have volunteered to help paint the classrooms and thereby strengthen this school-home partnership.
Dr. Rivera expressed her deep appreciation to both Rotary clubs for their exceptional support and commitment to establish and maintain a positive learning environment for all the students. Juan and Juanita will attend the open-house once the project is completed.
