A letter from Shelter Box

Good morning, Joan & Kent,
 
I am writing to provide a new update to our ShelterBox response information which I have just received a few hours ago:
 
We have confirmed that we will be responding to the Ukraine Crisis based on our needs assessment and likely locations include Poland, Ukraine, Moldova, Slovakia or Hungary. Although we are still determining which aid items will be most needed, it is inevitable that our aid will be needed and we are committed to supporting those affected by the crisis. We are currently meeting with other organizations to ensure our efforts are coordinated and aligned in proper regions.
 
Kent messaged on Facebook asking if we had delivered any aid to the region yet – the answer right now is no. We have a team on the ground coordinating with other humanitarian actors and we will be sending aid.
 
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. If I don’t have the answers I will seek them out.

Hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing Ukraine – and they urgently need help.

Dear Rotary E-Club of Central Texas,

Right now, the world is witnessing a vast and devastating humanitarian crisis unfold in Ukraine. At ShelterBox, we are deeply concerned for the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians fleeing their homes on foot in below-freezing temperatures.

I am writing to inform you, our most valued supporters, that ShelterBox is responding to the Ukraine crisis.

We are deploying a team of highly trained operations and response team members to the region to carry out assessments. In coordination with local authorities and other aid agencies, our team will work to understand the type of emergency shelter the displaced people of Ukraine need and if our aid will be suitable. You can read full details of the crisis and our response in the emergency brief below.

ShelterBox has deployed to the region before and has experience working in Ukraine in response to flooding in 2003 and 2008 as well as carrying out assessments in 2014 following the outbreak of the ongoing conflict in the Donbas region.

We stand with the UN in calling for peace and the protection of civilians affected by the crisis, and we are committed to supporting families affected by the Ukraine crisis.
