President's Message
"WORLD POLIO DAY"
Fellow Rotarians,
October 25th is World Polio Day. Rotary’s commitment to polio eradication involves extensive fundraising and volunteerism. Polio cases have decreased by over 99.9%. Rotary clubs all over the world are planning activities this month to raise awareness and collect money to donate to this effort. Contact one of the Rotary clubs in your community and volunteer a few hours. Let us all come together, with fellow Rotarians, in the name of the Rotary E-Club of Central Texas and play a vital role in “Ending Polio Now”.
At our September meeting, the **Rotary E-Club of Central Texas** was honored to host **Dawn Lewis**, Executive Director of the **TerraClear Foundation**—an organization that ensures **100% of donations go directly to helping Lao families access clean drinking water**.
Her message was powerful—and it inspired action.
Our own **Joan Bolhs** stepped up to **sponsor clean water for 5 families** and challenged others to match her effort. Just **\$75 provides a family with clean water for 5 years**!
Thanks to our members, **12 families** will now have **CLEAN DRINKING WATER**!
Want to make a difference? You still can!

And PLEASE send us a quick message after donating—we’re keeping count of how many families we can impact together.
If you missed Dawn’s incredible presentation, check out the TerraClear Foundation website to learn more at Terraclearfoundation.org. Let's keep the ripple effect going!
In celebration of Basic Education and Literacy Month, members of the Rotary E-Club took meaningful steps to support literacy and lifelong learning in their communities. Rotarians Juanita Lira and Juan Lira generously donated a collection of books to the Laredo Public Library, helping to expand access to educational resources for local families and children. Their contribution reinforces Rotary's commitment to promoting literacy as a foundation for opportunity and empowerment.
Additionally, Rotarians Blanca and Miller Swayzer extended support to the newly opened Dandelion Christian Montessori School in Killeen by donating books and essential school supplies. Their thoughtful gifts will help create a nurturing and well-equipped learning environment for young students beginning their educational journey.
Through these acts of service, Rotary E-Club members continue to champion education and literacy as key drivers of positive change in our communities.
E-Club Rotarians Joan & Kent Bohls decided to celebrate their 35th Wedding Anniversary by making children happy. They chose to buy playground equipment for an elementary school in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. Juanita Lira, E-Club President, contacted a school and helped coordinate the project. The Bohls personally drove to Laredo to meet one of the teachers and deliver a check. The students of Miguel F. Martinez Elementary School were able to start this school year in September enjoying their recess with a variety of fun playground equipment. The Bohls’ anniversary gift reflects their lifelong commitment to Service Above Self!
October is here, and with it comes World Polio Day on October 24th—a time for Rotarians and friends to celebrate the incredible progress in the fight to end polio and to continue raising awareness and funds for this important cause.
Across the District, Rotary Clubs are hosting polio fundraisers—creative, fun ways for communities to come together while supporting a world free from polio.
Not hosting your own fundraiser? No problem! Check out the list of participating events [insert link or reference to list] and join fellow Rotarians in supporting polio eradication. Every donation helps protect children and brings us closer to a polio-free world.
Let’s make a difference this October—support a fundraiser, spread the word, and be part of the solution!
